What to pay attention to when opening stainless steel molds

Raisingelec specializes in mold manufacture, punching, etc. The mold needs to be opened before punching. The quality of the mold affects the quality and production efficiency of the mesh. Next, let’s see what to look out for when opening a good mold.

First, pay attention to the choice of die gap, and choose the appropriate die gap, which can prolong the service life of the die, and can also punch out high-quality stainless steel micro-holes. A die with a large gap will cause the punching fracture surface to be sheared or torn. This condition can cause laminations and burrs on the workpiece. Too small die clearance will lead to inaccurate dimensional accuracy of the workpiece, and will also increase the punching force and make the die easily damaged. Material characteristics are also an important factor affecting the quality of the workpiece, so according to the thickness of the material, the gap of the mold is generally about 5% to 20% of the material thickness.

When the hardness of the sheet is too high, it will also affect the mold. When the sheet is relatively hard, the shear band is very narrow, and the punch is pressed into the sheet and breaks within a short time. When punching soft metal plates, punch and die Almost all cut into the sheet, the sheet will be cold work hardened due to the influence of the die punching edge.

In the process of using the mold, the gap will be gradually increased by wear and tear, so the minimum gap should be taken when opening a new mold. When punching the shape, the size of the die should take the minimum limit size of the workpiece, and when punching, the size of the punch should take the maximum limit size of the hole.
